KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested three men and 13 women following a crackdown on prostitution activities along Jalan Petaling.
City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rusdi Mohd Isa said police and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) personnel conducted a joint operation on Thursday morning (Aug 15).
"We raided five premises at around 10.15am and arrested two local men and one foreign man, as well as 13 foreign women aged between 26 and 46.
"We also seized 60 condoms, seven 555 notebooks, a tube of Curex and RM1, 418 cash, " he said in a statement on Saturday (Aug 17).
He said DBKL had to use bolt cutters to gain access and tore down the walls of the rooms used for prostitution activities.
"They have shut down and sealed these premises with immediate effect, " he said, adding that all those arrested had been remanded to assist in investigations.
Meanwhile in an unrelated matter, SAC Rusdi said they also raided an entertainment outlet along Jalan Ampang at around 11.15pm on the same day.
"We arrested two men and 12 foreign women aged between 22 and 39.
"We seized an amplifier, two microphones, a set of speakers and RM400 cash, " he said, adding that police also checked 14 men and four women during the raid.
He said all those arrested had been remanded.
