Cops looking for four men over scam cases involving nearly RM400k


SIBU: The state police are looking for four persons to assist in investigations into four separate scam cases involving RM373, 500.

The four are Wan Shaiful Bakri Wan Hassan (690114-13-5209), Awang Kushardi Awang Putra (681203-13-6327), Kharulliza Rajuli(850323-13-5032) and Hamdan Engka (681114-13-5551).

Sarawak Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) chief, Supt Mustafa Kamal Gani Abdullah, in his press statement on Friday (Aug 16) said the police had classified all four cases under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.

In the case of Wan Shaiful, he said a 70-year-old man lodged a report on Jan 22, 2013, saying he was cheated of RM75, 000 over a non-existent catfish rearing project.

In the Awang Kushardi case, a 40-year-old man lodged a report on Dec 4, 2015, claiming he had paid Awang RM98, 500 in connection with an "Education Ministry project".

The victim later found out that he had been conned.

As for the remaining two cases, Supt Mustafa said a 60-year-old man on May 19, 2000 filed two police reports claiming he was duped by Kharulliza and Hamdan into contributing RM200, 000 to an association so that he could obtain a business licence.
