Man, 33, electrocuted to death after trying to steal TNB cables

JOHOR BARU: A 33-year-old man was electrocuted to death while attempting to steal cables from a Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) distributor box at an industrial area in Pasir Gudang.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Ismail Dollah said police received a call about the incident at about 9pm on Wednesday (Aug 7).

"The victim was lying face down and motionless in a hole near the box when we arrived at the scene.

"We were able to get his body out at about 12.45am, as electrical supplies were temporarily cut off, " he said, adding that they were also assisted by the Fire and Rescue Department.

He added that initial investigation suggested that the victim was trying to steal cables from the box before the mishap happen.

"We have sent his body to Sultan Ismail Hospital for a postmortem and further investigations will be carried out, " he said.

Supt Ismail added that the case is classified as sudden death.
