KULAI: Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Sahruddin Jamal has denied rumours that he would be resigning from his post.
The Bukit Kepong assemblyman said that the rumours being spread on social media were mere hearsay, adding that such talk was baseless.
"Where did you (journalists) hear about the rumours? From a portal? Do you actually believe it, " he said.
He said this at a press conference after unveiling the mascot and the logo for the 20th Malaysia Games (Sukma XX) at the Impiana Hotel in Senai here on Wednesday (Aug 7).
Rumours of Dr Sahruddin's resignation as the state's mentri besar have been circulating on social media for the last few days.
A Facebook post had gone up on the Ops Johor Facebook page on Tuesday (Aug 6) claiming that Dr Sahruddin would be resigning soon due to his failure to deal with the pollution in Pasir Gudang.
Dr Sahruddin, 44, was sworn in as the 17th Johor Mentri Besar at Istana Bukit Serene on April 14 after being a member of the state's executive council holding the Health, Environment and Agriculture portfolio.
He took over from former mentri besar Datuk Osman Sapian, who resigned on April 8.
