KUALA LUMPUR: Merely 35, 737 or 10% out of some 350, 000 self-employed taxi, bus and e-hailing drivers have registered and made contributions to the Social Security Organisation (Socso).
The Self-Employment Social Security Act 2017 (Act 789), which came into effect on June 1, 2017, compels all self-employed taxi, e-hailing and bus drivers, who work full-time or part-time, to register themselves under the Self-Employed Employment Injury Scheme (SEEIS).
