IPOH: Two businessmen have claimed trial at the Sessions Court to bribing an Immigration officer at a restaurant on Jalan Meru Bestari here two years ago.
Choo Chee Seng, 47, and Fabian Dang Wen Min, 51, were charged with offering a bribe of RM5, 000 to Abdul Majid Mohamed as an inducement not to take action against Choo for hiring four illegal workers from Bangladesh to work at his coffeeshop.
The offence, under Section 17(b) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009, was said to have been committed on Oct 31, 2016.
Judge S. Indra Nehru set bail at RM15, 000 for both men with one surety each and fixed Aug 28 for mention.
