PETALING JAYA: The founders of Projek57, a social enterprise committed to building unity and hope among Malaysia youths, have pledged their full support to the #AnakAnakMalaysia 2019 walk next month.
Founders Syed Sadiq Albar and Collin Swee believe that the walk on Aug 31 is doubly important for all Malaysian youths.
“This is an amazing project and it is fantastic that the Eco World Development Group Bhd (EcoWorld Malaysia) and the Star Media Group Bhd have kept it going for five years running.
“This year’s walk is especially important because we have always been about empowering the youths at Projek57, and with the election age going down to 18, we need to instil the spirit of patriotism and relationship building even more,” said Swee.
Joining the walk for the fourth time this year, Swee added that the #AnakAnakMalaysia walk is also about forging the spirit of togetherness.
“For me, Malaysia is still a very young country and the theme for this year, #BetterMeBetterMalaysia, resonates well with the youth,” he said.
Syed Sadiq believes the walk this year has upped its game, and has become more interesting and fun.
“It is interesting in how EcoWorld Malaysia and Star Media Group can work together to foster greater unity year after year.
“We cannot always be waiting for the government to do it, and I believe that it is important for the corporate sector to initiate it too,” he said.
When asked about the theme #BetterMeBetterMalaysia, Syed Sadiq said he loved it because “it is all about the people and everything always starts with us”.
“Even in our Rukun Negara, it starts with Maka kami rakyat Malaysia (we Malaysians), so everything starts with you, with me, with us,” said Syed Sadiq, who also urged Malaysians to remember that unity could come from diversity.
“As different as we all are, we should be able to embrace that diversity and at the same time celebrate our similarities,” he said, adding that they are both eagerly counting down the days to Aug 31.
The main sponsors for the event are Panasonic (silver sponsor) and DRB-HICOM (car sponsor).
Registration fee is RM50 (adult) / RM20 (child) / RM120 (family package for two adults, two kids), and RM40 (corporate). Closing date for registration is Aug 9.
The #AnakAnak Malaysia Walk 2019 will be held starting 4.30pm Aug 31 at the Eco Ardence Sales Gallery, Persiaran Setia Alam in Setia Alam, Shah Alam. For more details, go to bit.ly/aamwalk2019.
