Cops attacked by suspects in raid over online scam

PETALING JAYA: A police team was attacked by a group of Africans when they raided an apartment at Damanآsara Perdana.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said the incident occurred at around 11pm on Friday at Flora Damansara.

“Three personnel and an officer raided the apartment over an online scam investigation when they were surrounded by about 50 Africans.

“The mob was aggressive and a scuffle ensued.

“During the scuffle, policemen in the apartment were pulled out and two African men and three African women fled the scene,” he said.

He added that the police team retreated and called for back-up.

“Reinforcements arrived shortly after and managed to arrest 10 Afriآcans believed to be involved in the scuffle with the police.

“We are investigating the case as obstructing public servants from carrying out their duties,” he said.

Meanwhile, Selangor CID chief Seآآnior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat issued a stern warning against the culprits involved in the case.

“They were breaking the law and obstructing police. We will not compromise and show mercy to suspects.

“We will take action against anyone who breaks the law,” he said.
