PUTRAJAYA: An Umno supreme council member has reminded PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that his priority is to ensure that Pakatan Harapan's pledges to give social justice to Sabah and Sarawak are fulfilled.
Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan claimed Anwar's support for the construction of the LRT and Penang Island Link at RM20bil shows that his priority has changed from Pakatan's manifesto promises.
"It is obvious that he'd rather help Penang than Sabah and Sarawak where the transportation system is still under-developed.
"What has happened to Pakatan's promise to assist Sabah and Sarawak? Every time the two states apply for development funds, the Federal Government will give the excuse that there is no allocation, " he said in a statement on Friday (July 26).
Abdul Rahman said in the spirit of Malaysia Baru, Anwar need not have to think long and hard to help and support the two states in their quest for better development, including road and transportation systems.
"This is Pakatan's promise. Anwar must make good Pakatan's 20-year-old promise to give social justice to Sabah and Sarawak, " he said.
On Thursday (July 25), Anwar said that he has given his full support for the Penang South Reclamation project and has accepted the explanation by the state government that the project was needed.
He also said that he would support the state in its request for one or two of the Penang Transport Masterplan to be funded by the Federal Government.
Penang had said that it would be applying for about RM20bil of funding from Putrajaya for two component projects of the PTMP, namely the LRT and the PIL1.
