SIBU: A Chinese national was rescued after she slipped and fell into a river.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said in the 10.25pm incident on Wednesday (July 24), the 36-year old woman, Pang Su Meng, was at a jetty in Jalan Ding Lik Kwong watching some anglers fishing.

“Suddenly due to the slippery wooden plank, the woman slipped and fell into the water. An angler saw it and jumped into the river to rescue her,” he said.

Firemen and police also dashed to the scene upon receiving a distress call.

“The woman left the scene with no injury with her local boyfriend," he added.
