Jobless man nabbed by public in botched snatch theft in Subang Jaya

SUBANG JAYA: A jobless man has been arrested following a botched snatch theft near the SS14 market here.

The suspect was riding a motorcycle along the road near the market and attempted to snatch the bag of a woman.

The woman screamed and struggled with the suspect before several onlookers came to her aid.

A group of Good Samaritans managed to capture the man and made a citizens' arrest before handing him over to the police.

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Risikin Satiman said they were alerted about the case at around 9.40am on Sunday (July 21).

"The 29-year-old suspect is unemployed and has three prior records for crime and drug-related cases.

"The victim sought treatment at a nearby medical facility and has yet to lodge a police report," he said.

ACP Risikin thanked the members of the public who acted swiftly to apprehend the suspect and handed him over to police.

"We will remand the suspect to help with further investigations," he said.
