Stop infighting or risk losing next GE, says Kit Siang

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan will lose the next general election if the infighting is not contained, says Lim Kit Siang.

The DAP supremo said everyone in Pakatan must take heed of what Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said on Friday (July 19) at the PKR retreat in Port Dickson, or be prepared to lose power and return to be the Opposition again.

"We need to ask ourselves, if we will continue to be given the people's mandate if we continue to fight among ourselves. Without realising, we can end up losing power because of our infighting.

"All Pakatan leaders must be conscious of the question Dr Mahathir posed to all Pakatan parties - that if we were to lose power, we will be measured by how much we have achieved in fulfilling the responsibilities and trust given to us," said Lim in a statement on Saturday (July 20).

He was endorsing the speech by Dr Mahathir to PKR leaders of all levels when the Prime Minister attended a PKR retreat in the constituency of party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Dr Mahathir said that all leaders should put aside their differences and be wary of opportunists.

He also pointed out that the people's expectation for Pakatan government to perform and deliver was high.

Lim, who is Gelang Patah MP, said that Pakatan parties must be a government coalition which gets along together.

"Although 14 months in power as the Federal Government, Pakatan is still not a natural government coalition.

"The coalition must not only win the 15th General Election but the subsequent general elections to complete the mission of a New Malaysia becoming a top world-class nation respected by the international community," said Lim.
