MELAKA: Serkam assemblyman Datuk Zaidi Attan (pic) says he holds no grudge against Melaka Agriculture, Agro-Based, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Committee chairman Norhizam Hassan Baktee for calling him a "dwarf".

This apparently happened during the recent state legislative assembly sitting.

"I wouldn't sever my ties with him just because he made fun of my physique, but people are unhappy that he was rude," said Zaidi, an Umno representative, on Saturday (July 20).

He added that he was taken aback when Norhizam asked him to stand on a chair during the assembly proceedings on Wednesday (July 17) after saying Zaidi was "invisible" during a debate session.

“This is the second time he has mocked my height,” Zaidi said.

Norhizam's remarks triggered a protest at Seri Negeri here on Thursday (July 18) when 40 Umno members from Serkam demanded that Norhizam issue an open apology to Zaidi.

However, Norhizam refused to apologise,

He asked whether Umno lawmakers would do the same for ridiculing representatives from other political parties, as well as uttering racial slurs, during state assembly and Parliamentary question-and-answer sessions.
