Police arrest four, seize RM80,000 worth of drugs in Gelang Patah raid

JOHOR BARU: The police here have seized drugs worth more than RM80,000 and arrested four locals in a raid in Gelang Patah.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the cops raided a house at Taman Nusa Bayu at about 11.30pm on Thursday (July 18) and found various drugs, adding that some were already in packets.

“Upon inspecting the house, we found drugs believed to be syabu, cannabis, Erimin 5 and Yaba pills. The police later discovered more drugs in the car parked at the house after confiscating its keys from one of the suspects arrested during the raid,” he said in a statement here on Friday (July 19).

He added that pills believed to be Ecstasy and Emirin 5 as well as packets of drugs believed to be syabu and heroin were among the items seized from the car.

ACP Dzulkhairi also said that the case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a mandatory death penalty, as well as Section 12(2) of the same Act for drug possession.

“All suspects tested negative for drugs and will be remanded for six days starting Friday,” he said.
