SIBU: A 26-year-old former auxiliary policeman has been arrested for robbing RM300 from a convenience store here.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said on Friday (July 19) that the suspect flashed a police identification card from his previous job as an auxiliary policeman in Genting Highlands in the 8.40am incident on Wednesday (July 17).

"Seeing this, the 25-year-old victim became scared and opened a drawer as instructed by the suspect for him to inspect," he added.

ACP Stanley said the suspect then grabbed the RM300 in the drawer belonging to a friend of the victim and fled.

The case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery and Section 170 of the same Code for impersonating a policeman.
