PETALING JAYA: The police have seized 2,710 cartons of illegal cigarettes worth at least RM400,000 in a special operation in Klang.
A total of five people, aged between 29 and 57, were arrested in the operation by the Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department dubbed "Ops Asap".
"The department launched an operation on Wednesday (July 17) based on information received from the public," said department director Comm Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.
He added that the police also seized RM49,040 in cash during the raid, along with two vehicles and 87 Customs stickers which are believed to be fake.
Comm Acryl also said that two of the suspects were found to have previous criminal records.
All arrested suspects have been remanded until July 23 at the South Klang police headquarters.
