Woman runs amok, allegedly threatens mother with knife

KEPALA BATAS: A woman was arrested after she allegedly ran amok and threatened her 73-year-old mother with a knife at their home in Permatang Buloh here.

The woman, aged 31, was believed to be under the influence of drugs during the 11.20pm incident on Saturday (July 13).

Among others who were at the house during the incident were the suspect's three children, aged five, seven and nine, as well as the victim’s son, who was there to visit his mother.

The son visited often for fear of the victim and the safety of the children ever since the recent death of his father.

North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the son, a witness to the incident, said the suspect also threatened to burn down the house and was seen laughing and talking to herself.

"The son then contacted his 21-year-old nephew, who lodged a police report.

"Investigations showed that this was not the first time such an incident had occurred.

“The suspect is said to be constantly running amok, believed to be as a result of drugs,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 506 for criminal intimidation.
