IPOH (Bernama): The Perak state secretariat (SUK) is among six departments or state agencies in Perak with outstanding traffic summonses, dating back to year 2000.
According to the 2018 Auditor-General's report series 1, the state secretariat has 31 notices/summonses for traffic offences involving RM5,400 in arrears.
The Perak Mufti Department has the highest number with 46 traffic notices/summonses totalling RM9,450; followed by the Manjung Land and District Office (PDT) with 41 summonses (RM9,090); Selama PDT 33 summonses (RM7,170), the Town and Country Planning Department 25 summonses (RM5,050) and Pengkalan Hulu PDT having 16 summonses (RM3,450).
"One of the reasons for the outstanding summonses is that reminders have not been issued by the department heads to the driver/officer of the vehicles concerned.
"Apart from that, the driver/officer could not be traced and no further action was taken by the department head to resolve the outstanding summonses," said the report.
According to the report, it has been stated in the Malaysian Treasury Circular that department heads should give a written reminder to the driver/officer concerned to ensure that the summonses are settled.
In another development, the report stated that the Ar-Ridzuan Medical Centre (PPAR), which is managed by the Ar-Ridzuan Medical Group (KPAR), has yet to be recognised as an Ibadah-Friendly Hospital (HMI).
KPAR, which is a subsidiary of the Perak Islamic Religious Council and Malay Customs, has not implemented all 13 HMI practices at PPAR as provided in the Implementation of HMI Programme Guidelines.
"At PPAR, only six practices are being observed. The practices are referring to the mufti on religious matters; creation of a special religious personnel position; provision of prayer facilities as well as separate treatment rooms for males and females; prayer recitation as early as 8am daily and doctors/nurses /staff dressed appropriately,” it added.
As at Dec 31, KPAR had not applied to Sirim to have the hospital evaluated in terms of its management system, quality and needs based on Islamic perspective to enable PPAR to be recognised as a fully syariah-compliant hospital. - Bernama
