MELAKA: The Melaka Tourism Business Club has praised officers of the state Immigration Department for arresting "Spiderman" here last weekend.

The club's deputy president Dennis Samford said foreigners have been peddling items and wearing superhero outfits to dodge the authorities.

"These foreigners make a quick buck by posing for pictures with tourists at popular destinations here.

"They earn RM5 to RM10 per picture and they can generate RM1,000 a day during the peak season," he said when interviewed Monday (July 15).

Samford also shared a picture of an Immigration officer detaining a Bangladeshi at Bandar Hilir last weekend.

He said that foreigners on tourist visas had been peddling items at hotspots in the state.

"There have been tourism players here who have highlighted the presence of foreigners taking advantage of tourists, and we commend the Immigration Department for taking action," said Samford.
