Cops arrest alleged child molester in Rawang

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a man, suspected to have sexually assaulted a nine-year-old girl at a supermarket in Country Homes, Rawang.

Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Samsor Maarof said the 45-year-old Indonesian construction worker was picked up, following a public tip off.

"We arrested the suspect at the Country Homes area and also seized clothes that the suspect was wearing during the incident.

"The man did not have any identification documents and we are positive that he is involved in the case," he said in a statement on Monday (July 15).

He added that the man will be brought to court for a remand order on Tuesday (July 16).

Video clip of the sexual assault that took place at 6.19pm on July 10, had gone viral on social media.

It depicted the man hugging the girl from behind before rubbing his private parts against the girl's buttocks.

The case is classified under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act.
