PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong met with a former Ukrainian minister in Parliament Thursday (July 11).
The MCA president and former Ukrainian Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Ihor Shevchenko shared their views on the political landscape of Malaysia, the region and the world.
"We've agreed to establish inter-party bilateral ties and to learn from each other's experience in politics as well as global issues," Dr Wee added in a Facebook post Thursday.
Shevchenko was also one of 39 candidates in the 2019 Ukrainian presidential election, which was held on March 31 and April 21, in a two-round system.
Actor-turned-politician Volodymyr Zelenskiy won the polls when he garnered 30% of the votes in the first round and 73% in the second round.
Shevchenko, a former President of the Ukrainian Bar Association, had also founded and led one of the leading law firms in Ukraine - Shevchenko Didkovskiy & Partners.
