Man stung to death while looking for durians

A SINGAPOREAN man was stung to death by hornets while searching for durians, China Press reported.

Retiree Quek Lye Seng was reported to have parked his bicycle near the Hillview MRT station before going into a nearby forest to look for durians.

During his search, the 66-year-old Quek was believed to have disturbed a hornet’s nest.

Citing local paper Lianhe Wanbao, Quek’s son said his father was stung multiple times.

The injured Quek stumbled to the MRT station and sought help from passers-by. He was sent to hospital and died on Friday night.

His son said the family did not expect this to happen as Quek had more than 20 years’ experience picking durians in the area.

> The daily also reported that Korean actor Kang Ji-hwan, 42, was arrested on Tuesday over allegations of sexual assault and rape.

Citing Korean daily JoongAng Ilbo, Kang reportedly brought two female assistants home for drinks.

But one of the women later texted her friends for help, saying: “I had drinks at Kang Ji-hwan’s house and now we’re trapped.”

When police arrived, one of the women said Kang had assaulted her while she was sleeping. The second woman accused him of raping her.

When questioned by the police, the actor said he did not remember what happened after having drinks.

Kang is not new to sex scandals. In 2014, a photo of him in bed with a married Filipina was uploaded on Facebook.
