BUKIT MERTAJAM: The State Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry's enforcement division destroyed 14 types of seized items worth RM3,417,135.83.
State director Mohd Ridzuan Ab Ghapar said the there were varied types of seized items destroyed such as sugar and biscuits; imitation handbags, wallets, belts, jerseys, sports wears, watches, T-shirts and fashion accessories; gas pipes, ice containers and pirated DVDs; as well as cellular phone accessories and Bluetooth headsets.
He said the above items were seized in 147 different cases.
"Among the RM3,417,135.83 worth of items disposed, RM3,185,811.93 were from the north east and south west districts, while RM227,838.50 from central Seberang Prai district and RM3,485.40 from north Seberang Prai district.
He said among the items seized, there were 4,759 units of imitation printer cartridges and toners worth RM1,762,604 which involved three court cases.
Other fake goods imitated brands like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Michael Kors, Adidas and Nike, as well as fake watches with G-Shock, Baby G, Casio and Adidas brand names.
"All the above seizures took place for the first six months of this year," said Mohd Ridzuan to reporters before destroying the items at their storage complex at the Bukit Minyak Industrial Area in Bukit Minyak near here Thursday (July 11).
Also present was state enforcement chief Chin Ching Chung, who is also the state deputy director.
Mohd Ridzuan said this was the sixth series of disposals.
