24kg of liquor bottles cleared from beach


BEER and liquor bottles weighing 24kg were among the trash picked up by the Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) from a stretch of beach in Butterworth, Malaysia Nanban reported.

CAP education officer N.V. Sub­ba­rao said a total of 200kg of trash was cleared by volunteers on Satur­day.The volunteers comprised CAP members, Butterworth branch Mal­aysia Hindu Sangam members and schoolchildren who spent about two hours on the beach.

Subbarao said the trash collected was mainly plastics and bottles.

> The daily also reported that students from SJK(T) Subramaniya Barathee in Gelugor, Penang, won two gold medals and were placed third overall in a state science innovation competition.

The competition, which was org­anised by the state Education Dep­artment and Penang STEM 4.0, saw 1,300 students from more than 30 national, Chinese and Tamil vernacular schools in Penang taking part.

The event was held at the Institute of Teacher Education Tuanku Bai­nun Campus in Bukit Mertajam.

The SJK(T) Subramaniya Barathee pupils presented a water cleaning agent and fertiliser in tablet form to make it user-friendly.
