BEER and liquor bottles weighing 24kg were among the trash picked up by the Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) from a stretch of beach in Butterworth, Malaysia Nanban reported.
CAP education officer N.V. Subbarao said a total of 200kg of trash was cleared by volunteers on Saturday.The volunteers comprised CAP members, Butterworth branch Malaysia Hindu Sangam members and schoolchildren who spent about two hours on the beach.
Subbarao said the trash collected was mainly plastics and bottles.

The competition, which was organised by the state Education Department and Penang STEM 4.0, saw 1,300 students from more than 30 national, Chinese and Tamil vernacular schools in Penang taking part.
The event was held at the Institute of Teacher Education Tuanku Bainun Campus in Bukit Mertajam.
The SJK(T) Subramaniya Barathee pupils presented a water cleaning agent and fertiliser in tablet form to make it user-friendly.
