PETALING JAYA: While one group of fishermen is all for the government’s proposal to sink foreign fishing vessels found guilty of encroaching into Malaysian waters, another is cautious of the move, saying many of the boats being used by foreigners to fish here belonged to Malaysians.
Malaysia Fish Industries General Association president Chia Tian Hee supported the move, saying turning the sunk vessels into artificial reefs would benefit local fishermen.
