KUALA LUMPUR: The two-day 254th meeting of the Conference of Rulers started at Istana Negara yesterday, chaired by Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.Earlier, he took the salute before an inaugural guard-of-honour at the main square of the palace.
The introduction of the guard-of-honour, mounted by three officers and 103 personnel of the 1st Battalion Royal Malay Regiment, was the initiative of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
Yesterday’s meeting was attended by Sultan Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah; Sultan Terengganu Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin; Sultan Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar; Raja Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail; Sultan Kedah Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin and Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
Kelantan was represented by Tengku Mahkota Kelantan Tengku Dr Muhammad Faiz Petra Sultan Ismail Petra and Pahang by Tengku Muda Pahang Tengku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ahmad Shah.
The Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Penang, Melaka, Sabah and Sarawak also attended the meeting.
The Malay Rulers were accompanied by the respective Mentris Besar and the Yang di-Pertua Negeri by the respective Chief Ministers.
On Tuesday, the Malay Rulers held a pre-council meeting at Istana Negara. — Bernama
