IPOH: Homestay owners have been advised to be more cautious when renting out their properties, says Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Ali Tamby.
This came after two homestays here were burglarised last month.
“On the pretext of renting the premises the thieves pay a deposit of between RM100 and RM150.
“After getting the key they would check in and start looting home appliances.
“This is the first time we have had such cases here,” he told a press conference at the Ampang Baru police station yesterday.
“Owners should not rent out hastily. Check and ask for more documentation,” ACP Mohd Ali said.
“One of the two cases we solved involved a suspect giving out a fake driving licence to rent a place.”
