SUNGAI BULOH: Armed Forces personnel should be included in the study to raise the income of low-ranked policemen, says Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu.

He agreed with the Home Ministry’s move to review salaries and allowances, adding that the Defence Ministry would follow suit.

“I agree that we should review the salaries and allowances of armed forces personnel from time to time,” he told reporters yesterday after officiating the annual general meeting for Koperasi Angkatan Tentera Malaysia Bhd at Sungai Buloh military camp.

Last week, Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said he was for the idea to raise the salaries and allowances of low-ranked policemen, adding that the government would look into the matter.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador had called for the raise so as to reduce occurrences of corruption among the rank-and-file policemen.
