PETALING JAYA: The SOBA LAB series, themed “Business Growth Masterclass”, will kick off at Menara Star here on July 17, followed by Ipoh (July 24), Johor Baru (July 31) and Penang (Aug 7).

SOBA LAB, a series of free capacity-building workshops organised by Star Media Group, will be held in conjunction with The Star Outstanding Business Awards (SOBA) 2019.A platform for entrepreneurs to learn, aspire and build, SOBA LAB aims to encourage the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by enabling them to learn from experienced professionals through sharing sessions on the best ways to succeed.

Each SOBA LAB will feature a panel discussion titled “Engine of Growth” as well as talks, networking and breakout activities to inspire entrepreneurs to take their businesses to the next level by fostering new ideas and business opportunities among like-minded peers.

Among the highlights of SOBA LAB PJ will be a sharing session by Prof Muhaya Eye & Lasik Centre Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Muhammad Addaem Mikhail Chandran, who won the Par Excellence Achievement for Male Entrepreneur of the Year (up to RM25mil turnover) in SOBA 2018.

Prof Muhaya Eye & Lasik Centre clinched Gold awards in the same category’s Best Brand and Best in CSR.

At SOBA LAB PJ, Senheng Electric (KL) Sdn Bhd founder and managing director Lim Kim Heng will share his entrepreneurial journey.

Lim won the Outstanding Achievement Award for Male Entrepreneur of the Year (above RM25mil turnover), while his company was the biggest winner of SOBA 2018 with eight awards, including Malaysian Business of the Year.

Known for his business acumen, especially when it comes to innovation, Lim is the man behind Senheng Electric’s digital transformation journey and spearheads the company’s technology adoption initiatives.

Under his helm, Senheng Electric was one of the first Malaysian companies to dip its toes into big data and data analytics for actionable business intelligence, which has since been spun off into a separate company called Black Box Consultancy Sdn Bhd.
