PETALING JAYA: The last Tuesday of July has been declared a public holiday in conjunction with the coronation of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
The Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Ismail Bakar said July 30 which falls on a Tuesday has been declared an additional public holiday for the nation.
Ismail said the additional public holiday was made under Section 8 of the Holidays Act 1951 for Peninsular Malaysia and Labuan.
He added that for the states of Sabah and Sarawak, the state governments can act based on its own state laws.
“For these two states, the respective governments will decide on the actions,” he said.
