Duo who allegedly beat up teenager arrested

JOHOR BARU: Police have detained two secondary school students for allegedly beating up another teenager at a playground in Taman Setia Indah here.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Sahurinain Jais said the two suspects, both aged 16, were arrested on Thursday (June 27) at around 7.40pm at a house in Taman Daya.

He said they were caught following a police report lodged by the victim, who was allegedly beaten by the suspects at the playground on Wednesday (June 26) at about 3.30pm.

ACP Sahurinain said the 15-year-old victim was at a motorcycle workshop in Taman Setia Indah when he had received a call from one of the suspects, asking him to come to the playground.

"Upon arriving, they started quarrelling and the victim was beaten by the two suspects,'' he said.

ACP Sahurinain said initial investigations showed that the two suspects were unhappy with the victim for badmouthing them.

He said the victim had swelling and bruises on his head and face, suffered chest pains and even vomited blood later.
