KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad spared some time from his busy schedule to meet with the Avengers at the Pavilion here, where he named Thanos as his favourite Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) character.
The 93-year old Prime Minister, accompanied by his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, was greeted by an almost-complete team of "Avengers", including Iron Man, Thanos and Captain America.
But fret not, there wasn't an impending world-ending crisis and the Avengers were not even the real actors themselves, just cosplayers.
The meet-up was arranged for the launch of the first-ever "Marvel Studios: Ten Years of Heroes Exhibition" here.
Asked about the exhibition, which would be opened to the public from Saturday (June 28) until Oct 27, Dr Mahathir said it was amazing to see how film technologies had progressed.
"To produce a film in the past, the cartoons had to be drawn by hand, but now there is no necessity for this, just use animation," he said.
Dr Mahathir named Thanos as his favourite character, and said the exhibition would attract a huge crowd as it displayed real characters' costumes, among others.
The exhibition, to be held at level 10, Pavilion, is licensed by The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia to Crave Alive and Beast Kingdom, who worked in collaboration with Samsung Malaysia, Maybank and KLOOK, to bring this experience to life.
It transports visitors into the multi-sensory world of the MCU, celebrating its first 10 years of films from Iron Man (2008) to the record breaking blockbuster Avengers: Endgame (2019), through 10 immersive galleries featuring original movie props, costumes, concept art and interactive experiences.
Visitors will also have the chance to purchase Marvel exclusive merchandise, from T-shirts, stationery, bags, and collectible items, including selected pieces that are being sold in Malaysia for the very first time.
Entrance fee is RM48 for adults and RM28 for children. – Bernama
