Comedian, two others arrested for drug use after fight in hotel


CHERAS: A comedian was arrested after a commotion at a hotel here on Tuesday (June 25).

The fight, which occurred at the hotel along Taman Maluri Cheras, led to a police team being dispatched to the scene.

When the police arrrived, they searched the 41-year-old comedian, as well as a woman and a man.

"Checks on the female suspect led to the discovery of a small plastic packet containing what we believe to be 0.55g of methamphetamine," said district Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon.

"All three also tested positive for drugs."

He added that the comedian tested postive for ganja. He was remanded for one day (June 26).

The comedian is known to have a record for drug offences.

The two other suspects, aged 35 and 25, tested positive for amphetamines. Both are in remand until June 28 (Friday).

Investigators also discovered that the female suspect had five previous counts of drug offence.

All three will be investigated under Section 15 (1) (a) Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug consumption.

The female suspect will also be investigated for an additional offence under the same act, for drug possession.
