Man dies in early-morning JB brawl, 11 arrested for murder

JOHOR BARU: A fight outside an entertainment outlet here led to the death of a 28-year-old man here.

It is learnt that police have arrested 11 people so far, including a woman, in connection with the incident that occurred on Jalan Datuk Abdullah Tahir here at 2.30am on Sunday (June 23).

The victim, who has yet to be named, died in his house in Taman Perling about 12 hours after the fight at about 2.30pm on Monday (June 24).

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Shahurinain Jais confirmed the case.

"Post mortem showed that the victim died due to a blow to the head," he said, adding that police have classified the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

All the suspects, aged 18 to 26, have since been remanded for investigations.

Meanwhile, in another unrelated case in Kluang, police are looking for two men who robbed a goldsmith's shop using iron rods at about 2.55pm on Monday.

The suspects escaped with thousands of ringgit worth of jewellery.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Abduh Ismail, who confirmed the case, said that the value of the losses have yet to be ascertained, but the suspects escaped with some gold chains, bangles and lockets during the heist at an outlet along Jalan Station in Kluang.

He described both suspects were thin, about 170cm tall and used a motorcycle during the heist.
