PETALING JAYA: Lingkaran Trans Kota Holdings Bhd (Litrak) will deliberate the government’s takeover offer with a special board meeting next week.

Litrak chief executive officer Sazally Saidi said they have to reply to the government before July 12.

“We just received the offer on Friday (June 21) and we appreciate the offer, as it is the right move to reduce the cost of living.

“We feel it is a fair offer for the benefit of everyone, be it the rakyat or shareholders. I hope the process will go smoothly,” he said.

He said this to the media at the Majlis Jalinan Aidilfitri 2019 at Kompleks Operasi Litrak along the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) on Monday (June 24).

Around 2,000 guests were invited to the event co-organised by Litrak, Kesas Holdings Bhd, Sistem Penyuraian Trafik KL Barat Holdings Sdn Bhd (Sprint) and Syarikat Mengurus Air Banjir Dan Terowong Sdn Bhd (Smart).

When asked about staff concerns over job security, he said he is confident that the government will ensure that all are cared for and that no one will receive the short end of the stick.

“Toll booth operators and maintenance staff will still be needed,” he said.

It was reported last week that the government has made a RM6.2bil offer to take over Litrak and three other toll concessionaires linked to Gamuda Bhd, namely Kesas, Sprint and Smart.

The government, in February, has announced its intention to acquire the four highways, as part of its election promise.
