Drug suspect arrested, accomplice flees after car chase against traffic

KUALA KANGSAR: The police have arrested a drug suspect while his accomplice managed to escape after a car chase that went against traffic near the Kuala Kangsar hospital here Sunday (June 23).

Kuala Kangsar OCPD Asst Comm Razali Ibrahim said in the 11pm incident, the suspect driving the car had refused to stop when asked by the police, sparking the chase.

"The driver had rammed into several vehicles during the incident before attempting to flee on foot near Jalan Raja Idris.

"We managed to apprehend one of the suspects with assistance from the public," he said in a statement.

"The other suspect managed to escape near the hospital.

"We know his identity and are currently on a manhunt for him," he added.

ACP Razali also clarified that there was no shooting between the suspects and the police during the incident.

He was responding to some video and photographs that went viral on social media.

"We found some drugs, a toy pistol and a police vest in the car," he said.

"We've also roped in the state police contingent's forensic team to assist with the investigation," he added.
