KLANG: PKR Youth secretary Ahmad Syukri Che Ab Razab says the statement by its vice chief Mohd Nazree Mohd Yunos that the wing supports Datuk Seri Azmin Ali does not reflect its official stand on the matter.
"PKR Youth denies the statements were officially made.
"They are merely Mohd Nazree's personal opinion," said Ahmad Syukri in a statement.
Mohd Nazree had also told the media on Wednesday (June 19) night that the wing demanded for Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz to be expelled for tarnishing the party's reputation.
He said this after attending a meeting chaired by Deputy PKR Youth chief Hilman Idham.
Mohd Nazree added that the PKR Youth disagreed with the party disciplinary board's move of merely issuing Haziq a show-cause letter and giving him two weeks to respond.
Haziq shocked the nation recently by claiming he was one of the two men in a series of three sex videos that were made public about a fortnight ago.
He alleged the other man was Azmin who is Economic Affairs Minister and PKR deputy president.
Azmin has strongly denying the allegation, saying it was manufactured to tarnish his reputation and destroy his political career.
He has also stated that he was convinced "the evil and cruel" slander came from within PKR.
Mohd Nazree had also told the media that the Youth wing wanted the party to return to its original struggle of defending the rights of the people as opposed to only championing one individual and family members.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Syukri added in his statement that the event Mohd Nazree attended was not an official PKR Youth meeting but instead just a gathering organised by Hilman.
"The national PKR Youth also supports the stand made by the party's political bureau on the sex video implicating two party members.
"We believe the decision made by the party's disciplinary board, and endorsed by the political bureau, is the best decision to solve the matter which has garnered public attention," said Ahmad Syukri.
He added that PKR Youth urged all members to abide by the party's decision on the matter.
