PETALING JAYA: Three members of a family were killed in a fire, which destroyed their two-storey terrace house in Kampung Lindungan here.
The victims of the fire, which broke out at 2.45am yesterday, were identified as K. Kandasamy, 62, his wife, S. Jayaletchumy, 59, and their son K. Ganapathy, 32.
The bodies of Kandasamy and Ganapathy were found on the upper floor of the house while Jayaletchumy was discovered on the ground floor, where the fire was believed to have started, said Selangor Fire and Rescue Department’s Petaling zone chief Anuar Harun.
“The house has no back door. Investigations found the fire started from the ground floor and spread to the top floor of the house.
“Kandasamy and Ganapathy are believed to have died from smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is being investigated,” he said.
Anuar said the house, built in the 1980s, shared a back wall with a neighbour.
The bodies were sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre for post-mortem. — Bernama
