Melaka cops probing senior citizen's death after signs of ransacking discovered

MELAKA: Melaka police are probing the cause of a senior citizen's death in Kota Laksamana here after signs of ransacking were discovered.

However, Melaka Tengah Deputy OCPD Superintendent Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said police have to wait for a full autopsy report before determining if the victim was murdered as no visible injuries was found in the Tuesday (June 11) incident.

“There were signs of ransacking in one of the rooms and the victim’s chain was missing. The front sliding door was not locked and there were no signs of forced entry,” he said when contacted Tuesday.

Supt Raiz Mukhliz said the 79-year-old grandmother was identified as Krishanvani and she was alone in her home at the time of incident that occurred at around lunch hour.

He said police received a distress call at about 2.10pm from the victim’s husband.

“The victim was also reported to suffer from bouts of illness and was living together with her husband and one of her granddaughters,” he added.
