SIBU: Four people have been arrested for the alleged armed robbery of a 52-year-old man of RM800.
The victim, who is a dishwasher, was walking along Jalan Central at 12.30pm on Sunday (June 9) when a woman waved at him and propositioned him for sex.
When the duo walked up to a rented room, three people suddenly showed up.
One of them was armed with a penknife and asked the victim to surrender all his money.
He gave them RM50 but this was turned down. The trio then snatched his wallet containing RM800 and his personal documents and fled.
Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the first two suspects, a 33-year old woman and a 37-year old man, were nabbed at 11.10am on Tuesday (June 11) at Jalan Market and Jalan Central.
"Following investigations, we arrested another two suspects - a 36-year old man and a 27-year old woman - at 3.20pm Tursday next to a trading company in Jalan Market. The four suspects are jobless," he added.
ACP Stanley said the third and fourth suspects had admitted involvement in the case and they had also told the police that the first two suspects were at the scene when the alleged crime was committed.
"The four suspects will be produced in court tomorrow for remand," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.
