People from all walks of life throng Sabah CM, state Cabinet open house

KOTA KINABALU: Thousands of people flocked Menara Tun Mustapha in Likas on Sunday (June 9) for the Hari Raya open house of the Sabah Chief Minister and state Cabinet.

The annual event, held at the Likas Sports Complex in previous years, was shifted since last year when the Parti Warisan Sabah-led government took over.

The event, which took place from 10am to 1pm, saw Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal mingling with guests.

He spent time with the disabled as well children and handed over duit raya to them.

"I am happy to see such an overwhelming crowd. The presence of so many people is good. It is a good time to strengthen bonds with the community.

"We need to maintain tolerance and this can be strengthened during festive seasons like Hari Raya.

"We can see the presence of different ethnicities as well as those from all walks of life, including senior citizens and people from different backgrounds.

"If we can hold celebrations harmoniously, I believe we can also work together in developing Sabah.

"This is the mindset we need to nurture so that we can rise together," he told reporters on the sidelines of the event.

Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and wife Toh Puan Norlidah Jasni attended the open house, arriving at 11.30am before proceeding for lunch.

Also present were state Cabinet ministers and government officials.
