Mechanic, 39, commits suicide at home in Sibu

SIBU: A 39-year-old mechanic is believed to have committed suicide after telling a friend that he would be going to a "faraway place".

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the victim was found hanged inside his home in Nanga Assan near here at 4.20pm on Saturday (June 8).

According to ACP Stanley, the deceased had on June 5, told a friend that he would be going somewhere and would not be back.

"The friend thought that he would be going to Bintulu as he once worked as a mechanic there. Little did he realise that he would commit suicide," he added.

The deceased was staying with his girlfriend and her child.

"On the first day of Raya, the woman was, however, told by the deceased to move out of the house due to a misunderstanding between them.

"She came looking for him on June 8. There was no response from him when she knocked on the house door.

"When she looked through the window panes, she found him hanging," he said.
