IPOH (Bernama): A total of 141 people from 34 families affected by floods following heavy rain in two districts in Perak are still housed at two flood relief centres as at 9pm Saturday (June 8) night.
Perak's Civil Defence Forces (APM) deputy director Zairil Anuar Zulmuji (pic) said the number of flood victims in the Hilir Perak district had increased to 127 people from 32 families as at 9pm, compared to 100 people from 25 families at 2.30pm.
He said all residents affected by the disaster were housed at the SK Changkat Jong, Teluk Intan.
"Heavy rain in the afternoon caused the water to rise to about four feet, or 1.12m. However, the weather is expected to improve tonight,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
Floods in the Hilir Perak district that started Friday (June 7) affected three villages - Kampung Batu 7 1/2; Kampung Batu 8 and Kampung Batu 9.
Meanwhile, Zairil Anuar said the number of flood victims in the Kampar district, as at 9pm, remained the same with 14 victims from two families.
All victims from Kampung Cabang Dua, Kuala Dipang, were placed at the Kampung Kuala Dipang community hall. - Bernama
