King conveys condolences to family of Ustaz Ku Yaacob

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has expressed his condolences to the family of the late Ustaz Ku Yaacob Ku Hashim, 68, who died while delivering the Friday sermon Friday (June 7).

The incident occurred at the Al-Bukhary Mosque, Alor Setar, Kedah, at about 1.30pm.

Istana Negara Datuk Pengelola Bijaya Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsudin, in a statement Saturday (June 8) said Sultan Abdullah also prayed that the departed soul rests in eternal peace among the righteous.

"His Majesty also expressed gratitude for the contributions and services rendered by Ku Yaacob as the imam of the Al-Bukhary Mosque,” he said.

Ku Yaacob collapsed while delivering a Friday prayer sermon at the mosque before being pronounced dead at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital. - Bernama
