Johor cops record 19 deaths, 2,041 accidents in first eight days of Op Selamat 15

JOHOR BARU: Johor recorded 19 deaths in the first eight days of Op Selamat 15 for the Hari Raya season.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said that the state had seen a total of 2,041 road accidents this festive season.

“The figure shows an increase of 8.16% or 154 cases compared with the same period during Ops Selamat 13 last year, which had 1,887 cases.

“The number of deaths has also increased from 18 deaths last year to 19 deaths this year,” he said in a statement Friday (June 7).

He added that the Johor Baru South district recorded the highest number of accidents with 454 cases, followed by Johor Baru North (232) and Seri Alam (200).
