MECCA (Bernama): Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will be leading a Malaysian delegation to the 14th Session of the Islamic Summit Conference (OIC Summit) in Saudi Arabia on Friday (May 31).
The Deputy Prime Minister will be accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister, Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, as well as officials from her office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The "Makkah Al-Mukarramah Summit: Hand in Hand towards the Future", was preceded by the Senior Officials’ Meeting on May 27 and the Council of Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on May 29.
In a statement ton Thursday (May 30), the Foreign Ministry said the Summit is expected to discuss in depth political, economic and socio-cultural issues affecting the ummah.
The meeting will deliberate on the OIC Ten Year Plan of Action 2016-2025, with the objective of addressing the diverse challenges facing the ummah.
The summit is also expected to adopt three outcome documents, namely the Final Communique of the 14th OIC Summit, the Resolution on the cause of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif, and the Makkah Declaration.
As a founding member of the OIC, Malaysia is committed to supporting the OIC in promoting the development and well-being of the ummah. - Bernama
