PETALING JAYA: The King has expressed his condolences to the family of the late Datuk Dahlan Zainuddin, a renowned singer in the 70s who passed away on Tuesday (May 28).
Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, described Dahlan as having a melodious voice and unforgettable songs and said that Dahlan's song "Kisah Seorang Biduan", was a personal favourite of his.
"Dahlan possessed such a distinct ability to entertain and captivate his audience. He was gifted with an immense talent and we honour and cherish this artist that helped shaped the music industry back then and continue to inspire the younger generation.
"My condolences to the family of the late Dahlan. Together we pray that Allah SWT will shower him with blessings on his soul and place him among the righteous.
"I do hope his family is strong and will be patient in facing this challenge," he said in a statement on Wednesday (May 29).
Dahlan died at 9.48pm on Tuesday (May 28) at the Selayang Hospital. He was 78.
His wife, Datin Effa Rizan, said his remains will be taken to the Bangsar Mosque before burial at the Bukit Kiara Cemetery here after the Zohor (midday) prayers, on Wednesday.
They have three children.
