JOHOR BARU: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin wants unity and cooperation within the party following Mazlan Bujang's appointment as Johor Bersatu chairman.

The Home Minister and Pagoh MP said he hoped there won't be any issues, adding that he wants to see cooperation between Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal and Mazlan.

“We must ensure that the state administration under Dr Sahruddin is able to get support from all Johor Pakatan Harapan leaders including Bersatu.

“We must also get the support of the rakyat to ensure the administration of the state is run smoothly and I have confidence in Dr Sahruddin to handle this,” he added.

Muhyiddin said this when met after attending a breaking of fast event with state Pakatan leaders at the Johor Mentri Besar's official residence here on Monday (May 27).

He said what is important is that the Mentri Besar must represent all races and groups and he must not favour anyone.

When asked if any directive comes from the party would be brought to Mazlan or Dr Sahruddin, Muhyiddin said Mazlan must discuss the matter because there must be consensus.

“I hope there will not be any problems as I stress upon the importance of cooperation and unity that must be upheld by everyone,” he added.

It was reported that Dr Sahruddin, who was not included in the new state Bersatu line-up, said it was time to move on.

He said it was only right that new Johor Bersatu chairman Mazlan had chosen those he was comfortable working with.

On Saturday (May 25), Mazlan announced the appointment of Mohd Solihan Badri as the state party secretary, replacing Dr Sahruddin.
