Johor cops arrest 275 suspects for drugs in 147 raids

JOHOR BAHRU (Bernama): The police have arrested 275 people in 147 raids for drug offences during "Ops Pemutihan" in the run-up to Hari Raya Aidilfitri, says Johor Police Chief Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd.

He said that police seized 625.98g of illicit drugs valued more than RM18,000 in raids throughout Johor from May 19 to 25.

"Among the drugs seized were heroin (268.54g), syabu (288.36g), cannabis (68.43g), ketamine (0.65g), Ecstasy (wight pills) and Eramin 5 (11 pills)," he told newsmen after the Johor Police Contingent monthly gathering here on Monday (May 27).

Mohd Khalil said 'Ops Pemutihan' is to combat snatch theft and drug abuse to ensure that preparations for the festivities happen without any untoward incidents.

In the same operation, police apprehended 20 individuals who had outstanding arrest warrants, adding that the operation will continue right up to Aidilfitri eve. – Bernama
