Worker dies after falling 9m while cleaning hypermarket windows

KOTA KINABALU: A contract worker died after falling from a height of 9m while cleaning windows at a hypermarket here.

City police chief Asst Comm Habibi Majinji said the deceased had been identified as a 21-year-old man from Miri, Sarawak.

He added that the hypermarket's security guard alerted the police on the incident at around 3.30am Saturday (May 25).

"The contractor fell from the first floor while cleaning the windows, and died from severe head injuries.

"He was pronounced dead by medical personnel from Hospital Queen Elizabeth 1," he said.

The case has been classified as sudden death.
